Often times, it is easier to ignore emotional and psychological difficulties in hopes that they will improve on their own. Unfortunately, in many cases, brushing these challenges under the rug doesn’t resolve the real issues.
As a marriage counselor for several years, I have had experience working with many different types of marital issues. Over time, I noticed that my couples were coming in with the same types of difficulties. Therefore, I created a 15 day simple solution-focused “check-in” activity book called Connect Now! that I offer to all of my clients during our initial intake consultation.
As your therapist, I want to give you as much information or psycho-education as possible to help you develop skills that may enhance your partnership even from the very first activity.
The sooner issues are addressed, the easier they are to work out. Sometimes, marriage counseling or couples therapy is all that is needed, providing a space for the couple to think and to explore their situation. Marriage Counseling can offer the opportunity to understand the deeper, more unconscious blockages and patterns in a relationship. This frequently links to our earliest and most powerful emotional experiences. Through mutual understanding, a couple often finds new strategies for enjoying their relationship.
If childcare is an issue, we can try to work this out on a case-by-case basis depending on the circumstances. I have a separate Play, Art, Music Therapy office with Netflix… which is connected to my office. We may also be able to coordinate an intern to have a session with the children.
Discussing your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and conflicts with another person can be of great help. If that person is unbiased, caring, professionally trained, and sensitive, then talking with that person and exploring your difficulties and concerns can be illuminating, and of tremendous assistance. We are passionate about collaborating with you to discover what is working and what is not working in your life. We subscribe to the belief of creating a partnership with our clients. Lastly, finding a therapist that is a good fit for you can be difficult. Our goal at South Tampa Therapy is to provide you with a comfortable, respectful and supportive environment where you feel open to explore any issues that come up during treatment.
