🌿 April Reflections: Spring Into Co-Practicing with Fresh Eyes 🌿

As we step into April—a month symbolizing renewal and growth—it's the perfect time to reflect on how we show up as therapists, collaborators, and lifelong learners. Just like the season encourages new blooms, our work as mental health professionals invites us to continuously grow, shed old patterns, and nurture our professional community.

This month in The Co-Practicing Collaborative, we’re highlighting the art of gentle accountability: how we hold ourselves and each other to high standards of clinical care while staying deeply compassionate, curious, and supportive. Whether you're a student, an intern navigating the nuances of boundaries for the first time, or a seasoned clinician holding space for a student, intern, or a client’s growth, we are all practicing together—co-creating brave spaces for self-inquiry, transparency, and repair.

Here are a few invitations for April:

🌱 Spring Clean Your Clinical Lens
What outdated beliefs or automatic reactions are you ready to compost? Notice if you’re slipping into “fixing” mode or becoming overly aligned with one partner in couples work. Can you pause, zoom out, and return to neutrality? Or maybe you take an RLT approach as Cara Lewis, LMFT and I discussed earlier today regarding taking sides in couples work.

🌸 Offer Repair in Real Time
Did you over-direct your supervisee? Miss a micro-moment of rupture with a client? This month, challenge yourself to name it, own it, and model repair with warmth and humility.

🧘🏽‍♂️ Revitalize Your Rituals
What keeps you grounded in your clinical work? Whether it’s breathwork between sessions, journaling after tough cases, or walking supervision chats—bring intention to your practices this month. Nancy Araven, LMHC offered so much support during our weekly meetings during the month of March, as interns sought interviews. Thank you Nancy, for your insight and guidance during this busy time. We worked together as a team, even during difficult transitions to ensure growth, ethical decision making, and exceptional care for our clients!

👥 Recommit to Co-Practicing
Co-Practicing is more than a clever phrase. It’s a way of being—where we honor that none of us are finished products. We’re all in process. Let’s keep learning with and from each other.

If you're feeling inspired, we'd love to hear what you're working on, what you're questioning, and what you're blooming into this season. Send us a reflection, quote, or clinical pearl to feature in next month’s post!

Until then, let’s continue co-practicing—as practicum students, interns, registered interns, licensed colleagues, and fellow healthcare professionals—with intention, integrity, and heart. We see the dedication you bring to this work and are committed to growing alongside you. Let’s keep collaborating and supporting one another so we can show up fully for our clients, our community, and ourselves.

See you each week in individual supervision and during our weekly group supervision sessions (limited to 6 participants—first come, first served). Our biweekly colleague offerings also count as group supervision, and CEUs will be available soon. Everyone is welcome—we’d love to have you join our offerings, trainings & provocations 🫶✨🌻❣️🦒
