What Supervision Model Do You Use?
I use a supervisee-centered and process based, humanistic, psychodynamic, and holistic approach to systemic supervision. I will show up in a deliberate way to practice our work together in a compassionate, culturally responsive, holistic, co-constructed, and relational way to assist supervisees in personal and professional growth. This will be a life-long process for myself and supervisees to continually fine-tune a passion and a love of learning about self-awareness and how we show-up for ourselves personally, professionally, and deliberately.

How Often will we Meet?
Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns in the state of Florida are required to complete no less than 100 hours of supervision in no less than 100 weeks, with at least 1 hour of supervision EVERY 2 weeks. It is recommended that you meet with your supervisor no less than 4 hours per month if you are practicing full-time in order to complete supervision at the same rate as your client hours within the 100 weeks.
I am always available for supervisees when needed. I consider myself on-call. If I will be unavailable, I will always have a back-up licensed clinician on-call. Nancy Araven is our licensed mental health counselor administrative supervisor.
Individual supervision is defined as one qualified supervisor supervising no more than two interns, while group supervision involves one qualified supervisor overseeing more than two but no more than six interns in the group.
In Florida, registered interns in mental health counseling and marriage and family therapy must complete at least 100 hours of supervision over a minimum of 100 weeks. This supervision can be conducted through individual or group sessions, each with specific criteria:
Individual Supervision: Involves one qualified supervisor overseeing no more than two interns. This format allows for personalized guidance and in-depth case discussions.
Group Supervision: Consists of one qualified supervisor working with more than two but no more than six interns simultaneously. This setting fosters collaborative learning and the sharing of diverse perspectives.
To ensure a balanced and comprehensive supervisory experience, Florida regulations require that each hour of group supervision must alternate with an hour of individual supervision. This means that after participating in a group supervision session, the next supervision hour should be conducted individually, and vice versa. Florida Administrative Rules
These structured supervision requirements are designed to provide interns with both personalized mentorship and the benefits of peer learning, supporting their development into competent, licensed professionals.
STUDENT INTERNS: We will meet EVERY week for at least an hour and I will correspond with you anytime you need support. This takes a great amount of time and energy and I am super grateful that you are here supporting our clients in a powerful way! I typically meet with interns and share resources twice a week, if not more.
